Unsecured Wi-Fi is often available in shopping malls and other public places. These networks do not require a password to join and can expose your login and password to unscrupulous persons.   

Your device's Settings menu displays the Wi-Fi networks with which you can connect. Secure Wi-Fi networks are indicated by a lock icon as seen here:
