Automation devices in your system can show Offline status for a number of reasons. The most common problem is the loss of AC power. 

When the system tries to operate a device that has lost power, the label "Offline" is displayed. 

 

Other possible problems include devices being outside the range of their local network or door locks with manual control features that are not recognized by Z-Wave communication standards.
