This FAQ describes creating a Scene on the Remote Service website.
The steps are similar on mobile devices, with slight variations for smaller screens.
1: On the left side of the screen, select Scenes. A list of scenes appears. (Even if you haven't created any yourself, 4 preset scenes are listed – see What are the preset Scenes for?)
3: Name your Scene; try to make it as straightforward and simple as possible.
4: Click CONTINUE
5: Select the devices that will turn on or off or otherwise change their status (like locks opening or closing, or motorized shades being raised or lowered, etc.)
6: Choose when you would like the Scene to run. There are three options:
- During a scheduled time. This will open a page of clock/calendar settings.
- Triggered by another device. This is useful if you want the Scene to be triggered by an event in another part of your system, like the security system being disarmed.
- Manually. Handy for things like dousing all the lights on movie nights, etc.
7: When you’re done, select SAVE.
Notes
- To edit a Scene, click on its name to open editing options. Options include deleting the Scene.
- As above, we recommend that you name Scenes in the most straightforward and simple way possible. In this context, clarity is preferable to in-jokes and obscure references.
- The device categories shown (Locks, Lights, Thermostats, Security) may not seem to include the device you want to use. For instance, you might be controlling a table lamp with a product designated as an “appliance module” by its manufacturer. In such a case, the switch won’t appear under “Lights”, so select Others > and check for your device there.
- Selecting ALL SWITCHES OFF or ALL SWITCHES ON clicks the checkboxes for all devices on the list and toggles the switches at right appropriately.
