The   symbol indicates a sensor or other type of zone in an abnormal state. 

This includes Fault conditions  (such as doors or windows ajar) and Trouble conditions(such as low or dead batteries and loss of communication between the sensor and the security system control panel).

Sensors showing these indications can be Bypassed, with the important exception of Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) sensors.
