This FAQ assumes that you have deleted your VX1 doorbell due to a software or network issue related to Total Connect remote services and that the doorbell is still physically installed and has power.
For some useful context about this topic, see the FAQ How do I delete my VX1 Video Doorbell? (And why would I want to do that?)
Using the iOS app:
- Touch at the bottom of the app's Home screen.
- Your connected cameras are listed; touch the Add Camera text button in the upper right corner. (Your system may display more connected cameras than are shown here.)
- Next, scroll through the list of compatible cameras and doorbells and select VX1 HD Video Doorbell:
- On the next screen, touch SKIP INSTRUCTIONS, because your doorbell is already physically installed and wired:
The next screen advises that you wait until the device chimes, but if you miss the chime, just confirm that the large LED is pulsing white.
- Touch NEXT.
- Before going any further, make sure your phone or tablet's Bluetooth is on.
- Then, turn on the doorbell's Bluetooth by pressing and holding the center button until the large LED flashes blue.
- When it does, touch NEXT.
- Then, name your camera:
(If you select USE A CUSTOM NAME, a NEXT button will appear.)
- Next, select your doorbell's MAC ID to connect it with your mobile device and continue setup. (As seen below, the app may display other Bluetooth devices nearby; be sure to select your doorbell; its ID will begin with "VX1".)
- Touch NEXT.
After connecting with your mobile device, the app will prompt you before it generates and displays the unique QR code needed to complete setup:
- When you touch NEXT, the app will display a large QR code that takes up most of the screen. As directed in the app, hold your device's screen about 6 - 8 inches from the doorbell's camera; you may have to hold it there for a moment or two.
- The app on your device should verbally announce that QR code scanning was successful.
Next, the app will display a list of Wi-Fi networks within range.
- Select the same Wi-Fi network used by your security system and enter its password.
- The final stage of camera registration begins:
- When setup is complete, this confirmation screen appears:
From this screen, you can Exit the setup process, ADD ANOTHER CAMERA or VIEW CAMERA SETTINGS for your re-installed doorbell.
- Touch DONE to return to the app's Home screen.
